Dear Faculty and Staff,
The university’s announcement this week that face coverings are now optional on UF property and in UF facilities prompted a visual reminder of how far we have come and where we’re headed as we continue our transition to a pre-pandemic campus environment.
For more than a year, the need for physical distancing and face coverings changed so much of how we interact with each other that what was once considered normal now feels foreign. However, this is one of the many visual cues we will see in the coming weeks as classrooms, offices and other spaces are converted to align with university guidance. We will also keep you updated as we continue to implement policy changes related to physical distancing, events and gatherings, and other areas impacted by the pandemic.
As this is a time of adjustment, we encourage everyone to be patient and respectful of each others’ personal choices regarding masking and physical distancing. If you haven’t done so already, we encourage you to become vaccinated against COVID-19. UF Health's website contains information relating to when and where you can get vaccinated on campus or at any site run by the Florida Department of Health in Alachua County.
We are eager about the future and what’s to come. Thank you all for your resilience and continued commitment as we enter this next stage.
