Maintenance staff paints over racist message at Beaty Towers

November 18, 2016

Dear residents:

On Wednesday, our maintenance staff painted over a message espousing a racist point of view scrawled on a door in Beaty Towers.

Not only was it vandalism, but there is no place for racial discrimination at the University of Florida. Messages of this sort, are against everything the university is trying to do to create a welcoming campus for all students.

Together, we strive to create housing communities that not only foster and nurture friendships, but also allow our students to learn and grow from each other.

We take great pride in the many backgrounds represented on our campus and hope that you learn to value them as we do.

Respectfully,

Dave Parrott
