UF refocuses on alcohol education in wake of FSU death

November 6, 2017

We were saddened to learn a Florida State University student died after an evening of drinking recently.

We respect and commend President Thrasher’s decision to do everything in his power to prevent another student death.

Alcohol use and abuse on college campuses around the country, and in Gainesville, has taken far too many lives. The University of Florida is committed to promoting a safe and healthy environment for all students.

At UF, we have worked with our campus partners and the Community Alcohol Coalition for years to increase the education surrounding this important issue.

From that group programs such as the Medical Amnesty Policy have help reshape our campus culture.

There is still work to do, and we will continue to focus on this issue.
