President Kent Fuchs
May 29, 2018

I am pleased to inform you that, following a national search, Antonio Farias has been selected as Chief Diversity Officer and Senior Advisor to the President. His first day at the University of Florida will be July  9.

Antonio comes to us from Wesleyan University, where he has served as Vice President for Equity and Inclusion as well as the Title IX and Section 504 officer since 2013.  Prior to that, he served as Chief Diversity Officer for the United States Coast Guard Academy.  I am confident this strong background will position Antonio to have a positive and lasting impact on the University of Florida, and I am pleased to have him join us as our first-ever CDO.

Antonio holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.F.A. from the University of California, Riverside.

Please join me in congratulating Antonio and welcoming him to his new role at the University of Florida!

Warm regards,

W. Kent Fuchs
President
University of Florida
