Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

Out of an abundance of caution, all classes at the University of Florida campus in Gainesville will be canceled and offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 10, because of Tropical Storm Nicole. Only essential university personnel should report for work during that time.

Additionally, all special events, and academic and student-related activities, including online classes, are canceled Thursday. Questions regarding academic-related activities should be directed to the course instructor.

The university expects to resume holiday campus operations on Friday, Nov. 11. However, the university will remain closed for business and classes on Friday in honor of Veterans Day.

Essential employees should check with their supervisors regarding scheduling. UF Health and UF/IFAS personnel and others at locations throughout the state should follow their local government’s guidance and check with their supervisors for information regarding the operations plan of their work locations.

Students, faculty and staff should not park their personal vehicles in campus parking garages, including UF Health garages, as those will be needed for UF Health employees.

Residence halls will remain open during the storm, and students who live in residence halls are able to shelter in place. Florida Fresh Dining will continue to serve the campus community during the storm. Given the storm’s projected impact, the university does not expect to open a shelter on campus as of this message.

P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School is also closed on Thursday, Nov. 10.

Any additional notices regarding scheduling changes will be made through official UF channels and can be found on the UF homepage. Additional information can also be found on the University FAQ page.

As always, students and employees in need of immediate help should dial 911. Students experiencing distress may also contact U Matter We Care at umatter@ufl.edu or (352) 294-CARE (2273) for non-emergency issues. Employees may call the Employee Assistance Program at (833) 306-0103 for support with non-emergency issues.
