Hundreds of people have been killed and tens of thousands arrested in protests against the Iranian government that began with the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in police custody in September. What began as a movement led by courageous women has grown to include brave Iranians from across that country’s society. Amid reports of continuing brutal repression by the governmental regime, we stand with the protestors for human dignity, human rights and freedom for all Iranians and in particular with those in Iranian universities and physicians and other health care workers who are providing care to the injured. We continue to offer support to Iranian students, faculty and staff at UF — and our caring wishes for the safety of their families, loved ones, colleagues and friends in Iran.
