A quick update as Team UF braces for Hurricane Idalia

Faculty and staff,

Wanted to share a quick update: UF senior leadership is in close contact with the National Hurricane Center, the National Weather Service, and the State’s Division of Emergency Management. We’re executing our strategy for keeping our community safe before, during, and after the storm. This is a big effort, and I’m grateful for the way this community pulls together.

Our work as a university is important, but right now nothing is more important than the physical safety of our students, staff, and faculty.

I'll be spending part of tonight at the UF Emergency Operations Center as we track the storm's progress and respond to needs on campus. If current forecasts hold, we plan to do a damage assessment in the morning after we're through the worst of it and, hopefully by the afternoon, communicate with you about our re-opening plans. Stay safe
