Firearms prohibited on campus

Dear students, faculty and staff,

I want to provide some clarity regarding a recent court ruling that repealed Florida’s open carry ban.

It is important to note that while adults who can legally possess a firearm are allowed to openly carry their weapons in most public places, the law banning both open and concealed carry in prohibited locations, including schools, remains in effect.

Thus, open and concealed carry of a firearm on University of Florida property is still prohibited.

Safety is a shared responsibility at UF. If you own a firearm and intend to carry off UF property — openly or concealed — it is critical that you familiarize yourself with the law to ensure the protection of yourself and the community.

Please help us keep our campus safe.
