Gainesville campus utility impacts

February 1, 2026

As a result of the extreme weather currently affecting the state, a number of utilities services across the region have been negatively impacted.
Similarly, portions of UF’s campus utility systems have sustained damage that could temporarily result in cooler than usual conditions within certain campus buildings and facilities, and these effects could last several days.

Crews from both UF’s Facilities Services and external utility providers are working diligently around the clock to resolve these issues, but the extent and significance of the impact on Monday morning is not yet known. However, we do not anticipate any of the buildings having an indoor temperature lower than 60 degrees Fahrenheit during work hours.

Consequently, we suggest that you may want to ensure you have additional warm clothing on hand in the event your place of work is affected.

Employees are expected to report to work as normal, but if, upon arriving at a campus facility on Monday morning, a supervisor or building administrator has concerns about the indoor temperature and working conditions, the responsible individual should contact Melissa Curry, Vice President for Human Resources (melissa.curry@ufl.edu, tel. 352-392-2477), to discuss possible alternatives.

We will continue to pursue solutions to these issues and will provide an update to the campus community on Monday.
